Having first shown the breed in the 1990’s I truly enjoyed my day awarding CCs for the first time in the breed as the breed has always held a special place in my heart. I thank the exhibitors for the numerically strong entry. The overall quality of the exhibits was very high, and the breeders and exhibitors should be applauded. The breed appears to be in a good place; bad dentation was few and far between. Temperaments were excellent and no exaggerations were apparent. I know this is the icing on the cake for breeders but where has the valued lozenge marking gone from the Blenheim’s?

1s Rhodes’ Calonlan Zeus
12 mth Tri. Pleasing head and eye sat on moderate length of neck and well laid back shoulders. Good spring of rib, topline was just little soft today. Tail well set on. Well turned stifles. Coat well presented, for me I would have liked the markings to have been a little more broken. Moved sound and parallel on the out and back and has a free and easy side gait with good drive from his rear.
2nd Bloomfield’s Oaklake Limitless
12mth Tri. Similar attributes to my winner. He has lovely head piece, neck and shoulder. Nicely sprung ribbing. Level back. Well presented coat but again I would have liked to have seen a little more open marking. Not quite as clean on the out and back as my winner today but I am sure that will come.

Blenheim. Just loved his type and balance. Super head and expression. Moderate neck, shoulders well laid back, moderate chest and straight legs. Body short coupled and ribs nicely sprung. Table top topline and well let down hind quarters. Very well presented and handled. Sound parallel movement on the out and back and showing a free and easy side gait on the go around. A really nice package. No doubt this boy is going to have an excellent future and I can see why he has already been awarded his title of champion. He was certainly in the frame for one of the top spots in the challenge.

2yr Tri. Super type. On the table he is so nice to go over with everything fitting together. Loved his head piece with a lovely gentle expression, framed with long high set ears with plenty of feathering that finished the picture. Very good front and rear angulation. Moderate neck and chest. Fore legs straight moderately boned. Well sprung ribbing. Level back, short coupled and hind quarters well let down. Coat was well presented. In the challenge it was his sound parallel movement on the out and back with perfect foot fall that add to his free and elegant side gait with drive from his rear that propelled him to RCC.

Blenheim full of breed type that just demanded attention. He was a delight to go over on the table everything just fitted together. He has such balance and superb outline. His head piece is so typical for the breed. He was everything I was looking for. When he moved it was the icing on the cake, foot perfect and parallel on the out and back. His side gait was free and elegant with drive from his rear with the desired tail carriage never carried above the level of the back. Presentation and handling were spot on. CC & BOB pleased to see him later take G3.
