Dogs Mrs E Williams (Sancana)
My heartfelt thanks for the invitation to judge my breed at this prestigious show that is The Welsh Kennel Club, to the Secretaries, Graham and Ann Hill, who after 20 years of hard work and devotion to the society are retiring. All that I needed was at my disposal and I also thank ‘the terrible twins’ who were my able stewards, Alan and Alan who kept all running smoothly. I was delighted with my principal winners and very proud to watch them competing in the beautifully decorated BIS ring. Most important, are my thanks to the exhibitors who presented me with a quality entry which, at times, caused me a real headache as I was literally splitting hairs when deciding my placings.
Those who know me will know that one of the many criteria I apply to my placings is construction, balance and moderation with a natural, untrimmed coat and I found plenty that met that criteria. The ground in the ring was, unfortunately, not in the best condition and some dogs coped better than others and, perhaps, were not at their best on the move. However, I do feel that attention to rear construction and strength in hind quarters needs to be addressed with a number moving too close behind. Others, may have been too short in leg or long in loin. However, there were many pluses. On the whole mouths, were good and many had the beautiful head properties and temperament for which our breed is renowned.

1st Rees’ Embeth Rock The Boat
I have much admired this blen dog from ringside and was delighted that I was invited to judge him today. He has really come into his own and, in my opinion, been much overlooked. He is neat, well constructed and balanced and moderate all through, he has the correct head proportions and softness of expression we all strive for, large, dark eyes with well set on ears and long leathers to finish the picture. With good angulation all round and well developed muscle, he moved with ease, holding his level topline and correct tail set and carriage at all times. He was beautifully presented in his well broken, richly coloured, gleaming coat in excellent condition, I was pleased to award him the DCC, giving him his crown.
2nd Kilcoyne’s Ch Granasil Bourbon
Lovely ruby with the most glorious head and kind expression, difficult to achieve in this colour, so attentive to his handler, fabulous pigment contrasting with his richly coloured , correctly textured coat, he has good angulation all round and used his well muscled body to move around the ring effortlessly, holding his level topline and tail carriage, a champion to be proud of.

2nd Jones’ Boatswain Azure at Droleus (Imp Ita)
Neat little package of almost 9 years, she has a pretty head with large dark eyes good cushioning, framed by long well set on ears, very attentive to handler, being slightly shorter in body than 1, she did not cope with the uneven ground quite as well as 1.

Well constructed and balanced b/t of just 6 months, still needs to develop in head but she has large dark eyes and good ear set, good dentition, good angulation all round, rich tan on raven black, a happy little girl, she gave her handler a hard time but did enough to demonstrate her level topline and good tail set and carriage, very promising.
2nd Hall’s Granasil Miami Secret for Rootessma

I loved the shape of this very pretty well balanced and constructed, well broken blen of 9 months, correct head shape with large, dark eyes, well set on ears and enough cushioning, correct dentition, good angulation all round, moved well holding a level topline, good tailset and carriage, happy little girl so attentive to handler, I was pleased to award her BPB and BPIB.
2nd Sedgbeer’s Russmic Olivia Rose
I have much admired this 9 month young lady from ringside and thought as she came into the ring that she could well be my class winner. She has a pretty head with large dark eyes, well set on ears and correct dentition, the richest of ruby jackets, is well balanced and constructed with good angulation all round, unfortunately, for whatever reason, she was not going to cooperate with her handler today and made movement difficult to assess.

And what a little minx she is! slightly larger than 1, cavalier temperament in abundance, she has a pretty head with large dark eyes, enough cushioning framed by well set on long leathers, correct dentition, her coat is of rich tan on raven black although I would prefer a little more of it, very well constructed and balanced with a super topline, tail set and carriage, she moved well at all times.

1st Homes’ Leogem Campanula
I just love the head on this ultra feminine, well constructed blen, she has the most beautiful large dark eyes, which draw you in and cannot be ignored, her head is correctly proportioned with enough cushioning giving that softness of expression so important in the breed, well set on long leathers, correct dentition, good angulation all round with a lovely arch to her neck and good shoulder placement leading into a level topline and correct tail set, slightly longer in body that my CC winner, she moved elegantly and gracefully and I was pleased to award her the RCC.
2nd Ireland’s Charnell Songbird JW
Another very pretty blen with classic head proportions, large dark eyes, enough cushioning, all framed by well set on long leathers, correct dentition, good pigment, rich tan on pearly white coat of good length and texture, she has good angulation all round, lovely neck and shoulders leading into a level topline, correct tail set and carriage, unlucky to meet 1 who coped more easily with the uneven ground.
3rd Spall & Clark’s Llapsttam’s Eunice JW
Res Jackson’s Fortunamajor Shining Star
VHC  Jones & Ireland’s Moonvale Mai Tai for Charnell
Open (12, 3) Fabulous class and I was spoilt for choice.
1st Lovel’s Ch Lovetrac Born To Boogie
This oh so neat little package just blew me away! She meets the standard so well, I could easily repeat it here - but I won’t. Just the right size, I was particularly taken with her pretty, correctly proportioned head, those large, dark eyes, super pigment, beautiful blen coat of rich tan on pearly white, of good length, but not excessive, which flowed, as she did, when moving round the ring and with such ease and drive. She carried her constantly wagging tail straight off her level back, has the most wonderful cavalier temperament and never stopped showing. I was pleased to award her the CC and BOB to go forward as a worthy representative of the breed in the toy group where, I might add, she was still showing her socks off.
2nd Levy & Sedgwick’s Pascavale Shanice
Small and very pretty tri with excellent head proportions, large dark eyes, good pigment, well set on ears framing her well cushioned face, correct dentition, well broken coat of good length, good angulation all round, good tail set and carriage, level topline but when I called her in to challenge for the RCC, she did not manage the uneven ground as well as the RCC winner.
