Dogs Mrs J Waller (Jinjan)
Thank you so much for allowing me the privilege of assessing your lovely dogs, after over 40 years decided that today would be my last judging appointment. Unfortunately, my co-judge was unable to officiate and Mrs Mia Kendall kindly stepped in to asses the bitches. Decision on BIS was incredibly hard as we liked both dogs equally and, after discussion, the decision was made and the delightful, feminine bitch was awarded BIS (Robbs, Chapman & Ireland Ch Ellemich Good Trouble with Gleniren), the classy ‘all male’ dog was RBIS (Rees Ch Embeth Rock the Boat). The appealing BP dog took the BPIS (Williams Charnell Renegade Sancana JW) and finally the very pretty and sound Veteran Bitch was BVIS (Loades Rosirius Bluebell). Congratulations to all.

Best Puppy Dog William’s Charnell The Renegade Sancana

Baby Puppy (2 Entries, 0 Absent)
1st Bloomfield’s Oaklake Limitless
Blanket marked tri colour who was reluctant to walk, so made it hard to asses movement. Good bone and shape for age and correct ear set and length of muzzle. I’m sure more self-assurance will come in time.
2nd Spall & Clark’s Llapsttam Carlos
Black and tan was schooled well for one so young. Nice rear angles when standing, was finer in body than 1. Ear set was a bit low for me.
Veteran (3, 1)
1st Wimberley & Newman’s Trishine’s Celestial Dream with Finjaro
8 yrs old well muscled, heavy marked, Blenheim who strode well round the ring. Lovely, dark, round eyes. Correct ear placement and length of muzzle.
2nd Hobbs’ Beaconsfylde Catch The Kiss JW ShCM VW
9 year old, moved ok, but not looking so spritely as 1.
Minor Puppy (13, 2)
1st William’s Charnell The Renegade Sancana
Lovely puppy with a bright future ahead. Correct size for age. Held top line and shape with a well turn of stifle making his movement sound. Markings showing off his good reach of neck and lay of shoulder. Nose pigment was dark and correct length. Eyes still to come but were dark and ears were held well which gave him a soft expression. Pleased to award him Best Puppy Dog and with my co-judge Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Maclaine & Vella’s Lochbuie Julius Baer
My notes read "cheeky puppy" and certainly didn’ make it easy for his handler on the table. Attractive puppy who moved well, once settled. Well marked, correct size and good shape. Lovely eyes, with lots of fun to come.

Puppy (5, 1)
1st McMurray’s Chadwick Perfect Tonight at Merryoth (Imp USA
Classic blenheim puppy who shows lots of promise for the future. A teenager, once matured, will trouble the best. Markings of rich colour. Good top line and turn of stifle, reach of neck, moved with enthusiasm. Loved his head proportions, good ear set and correct length of muzzle.
2nd Willis’ Dinitro’s Rock Steady Eddie
Up to size but, in proportion, blenheim dog. Has beautiful eyes with correct ear set. Markings emphasising his good lay of shoulder. Moved well.

Yearling (5, 1)
1st Koster-Tindall’s Harana Now You Has Jazz JW
Black and Tan (easily the best whole colour of the day) Have watched him from the sidelines and he certainly didn’t disappoint on handling him. Good top line, with heart room, just the right amount of spring of rib for age. Good ear set and muzzle. Love his attitude in the ring, moves smoothly and confidently, up on his toes around the ring, stands beautifully four square. Considered for top honours.
2nd Hamilton’s Kringleholm Continental
Well marked Blenheim with correct ear set and lovely eyes. Reasonable lay of shoulder with a good spring of rib. Length of muzzle was a bit short for me. Coat was in good order, straight and silky.
3rd Long’s Arroline Kryptonite JW
Res Walker’s Carsan Richie Rich
Novice (10, 1)
1st Nolan’s Castlewytch Nevada Gunclub
Small cobby dog with a wealth of long silky coat in good condition. Super head proportions. Perfect length of muzzle, shallow stop, round dark eyes, high set ears — giving a true cavalier expression. Moved well and it was nice to see a non-stop waggy tail.
2nd Leach’s Ouzlewell’s Ralphie Lauren
I had ‘split hairs’ on these two dogs. They could easily change places on another day. Love the freedom of movement on this young dog, so true coming and going. Watched him as a puppy and he is just getting better every time I see him, Just needs to mature in head, but its coming.

Gleaming, rich, chestnut Ruby boy. Up to size and a little long cast, but who had a good lay of shoulder, tail set and moved well. Fabulous ear set.
2nd Hawes’ Jolainey Blue Moon for Kersmere
(unplaced in Novice). Straight and well marked, rich coloured coat. Good top line but tended to pace so made it difficult to assess movement.
Post Graduate (4, 2)

Tri colour although bigger than my preference had a good reach of neck and moved ok.
2nd Royce’s Llapsttam’s Garcon Noir at Rucazan

2nd Chapman & Ireland’s Notorious Du Chateau Noblesse at Ellemich
Smartly marked, good looking blenheim with a perfect depth of colour. Correct broad, almost flat, skull, with good length of muzzle and dark expressive eyes. Nice turn of stifle with correct angulations front and rear with level top line. Moved with drive from the rear.

A smart, clean outline blenheim. Had correct ear set and round, soft dark expressive eyes. Felt good on the table, well boned and level top line standing four square. Compact neatly made body, liked his size and substance. Moved fluently coming and going.
2nd Chapman & Ireland’s Ch Ellemich American Express
A very smart handsome dog that has 'oodles' of ring presence. Well constructed with well laid shoulders into a level topline. Good bone and turn of stifle. Ears held high onto a broad skull, gentle eyes and correct muzzle. Excellent rear movement with lots of drive. Close decision.
3rd Spiers’ Can Ch GCH Narayden Ben Hur for Caramoone
Special Open Bred By Exhibitor (3, 0)
1st Rees’ Ch Embeth Rock The Boat
My star of the day and a worthy champion. I’ve seen him from the sidelines and was pleased to have the opportunity to go over him. Quality head proportions. High ear set and correct length of muzzle. His round, dark eyes gave me goose bumps. He didn’t put a foot wrong. Stood four square every time I looked at him. Happily covered the ground with ease, tail straight off his back. Good front and rear assembly making for a free flowing outline. More than happy to give him the Dog CC.
2nd Lovel’s Lovetrac Brandon
Stood four square on the table, good deep chest, well turned stifle, level topline creating a stylish outline. Lovely head with flat skull and dark eyes. Good pigmentation. Moved with drive and sailed gracefully around the ring.

Bitches Mrs M Kendall (Headra)
Thank you to the officers and committee for asking me to stand in as the invited judges had to stay home. I would also like to thank every exhibitor who accepted my decisions with good grace. I have thought long and hard about putting together a pre-amble to my critique and I feel a few things need to be highlighted, I have lived with Cavaliers since the day I was born (58 years) and oh how the breed has changed. Please remember you can not make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. The bitches we have today are the foundation of the future. Please watch out for long and low dogs. We are Cavaliers not Dandi Dimots. We are a toy dog you are meant to be able to pick them up with one arm, watch the size. On a good point, eyes are not bad at all and mouths are definitely getting better.
