Dogs Mrs M Newton (Tonnew)
Firstly I must congratulate the Society on a mammoth task well executed. After a long period without shows to then put on two Championship shows in one day was above and beyond. It was a marvellous day with a real party atmosphere.
My two stewards made my task as easy as possible with all the new Covid rules in place at the time. My Co-Judge and I agreed on our final placings and we both thought the CC winners complimented each other when going round together, great examples of the breed.

Bitches Mrs P Sidgwick (Paulian)
I was delighted to be invited to judge this show, it was Eastern Counties who offered me my first Breed club judging appointment 35 years ago. This time I was taking over from appointed judge Ann Rennard who unfortunately had to withdraw, having drawn a super entry. I am sure she would be disappointed at not being able to carry out this appointment, and I wish her well, and hope she approves of my winners on the day. I would like to thank the exhibitors for accepting me as their replacement judge and hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as I did. The committee did an excellent job organising this the first breed club championship show, since the long break following the Covid restrictions. It was a long day for some, but a happy friendly atmosphere appeared to be the order of the day. Although having to follow the strict covid regulations, this didn’t spoil what appeared to be a garden party atmosphere around the rings, with the vast array of tents and gazebos on display and the glorious sunshine which thankfully prevailed. I would like to thank my stewards Derfel Owen and Melissa Evans for their efficient running of my ring, enabling me to complete my judging in good time. My co judge, Margaret Newton and I were in complete agreement when it came to our final decisions, awarding Best in Show to the dog Ch Pascavale Haiden, owned by Messrs Levy & Sedgwick, Res. Best in Show and Best Opp.Sex to Ch Byermoor The Empress, owned by Ms Wendy Waters, BP Wandris Castiel owned by Ms Alex Bubb & Best Veteran Ch Lochbuie Cappuccino, owned by Mrs D Maclaine.

Special Veteran (10 Yrs and Over) (0, 0)
Minor Puppy (9, 1)
1st Nolan’s Jernito Winter Hope
A close decision between first two, I loved the free flowing driving movement of this blen bitch, she presents a good outline in profile, is well balanced with elegant neck set into laid back shoulders. She needs to gain cushioning under eye and mature all through but at only 7 months has plenty of time. Best Puppy Bitch
2nd Smith’s Beaudale Honey Honey
Loved this little ruby bitch, she is still very much a baby, beautifully balanced all through. She has gorgeous dark eyes, well pigmented, just needs to fill under the eye to soften the expression, and gain substance to complete the picture, which should come with time, moved out well.

A pretty well broken blen bitch at a very raw stage of her development, having left her adult clothes at home, compactly made giving a square outline, level topline, with good turn of stifle to rear. Pretty head with flat skull and high ear set, dark eyes and good pigmentation. I shall look forward to seeing her when she bodies up and gains her adult coat.
2nd Parsons’ Anjomil Harvest Moon
Heavier marked bitch, she is an ideal size with good bone, well sprung rib, she presents a pleasing outline in profile and moves out well, keeping her topline, showing drive from her well angulated rear quarters. Pretty head with dark round eyes and good pigmentation.

1st Chapman & Ireland’s Ellemich Attraction
16 month ruby, with substance without being overdone. Correct for size with good bone, well sprung rib, short coupled body with firm topline and strong well angulated rear quarters which she uses well on the move. Her head is maturing nicely, broad in skull with high set ears, dark eyes, well cushioned and excellent pigmentation. Once she gains her full coat and finish will be hard to beat.
2nd Galloway’s Revdvicki Heaven Sent at Sailcross
A richly marked blen bitch, not overcoated but of correct length and texture, not the maturity of winner as yet, I liked her outline, well balanced all through, with good neck and shoulders, level topline, good turn of stifle. Pretty in head with dark eyes, should do well.

Novice (11, 1)
1st Claydon’s Brymarden Touch And Go
Super little compact blen bitch, pleasing head fairly broad in skull with high set ears, dark eyes, just spoilt by showing a little too much white which detracts from the overall expression, she is well cushioned with good balance of muzzle to skull. Love her elegant neck set into well laid back shoulders and square outline, correct size with good bone, well ribbed body and good turn of stifle, moved out well. Immaculately presented well broken richly marked coat complete with spot.
2nd Galloway’s Russmic Miss Liberty at Sailcross
2 year old ruby bitch, really liked this bitch, just not a mature in head as winner as yet, but sure in time this will come. Well angulated all round, excellent size and shape, level topline with good angulation to rear, long silky coat of correct texture, pretty head with dark eyes, just needs to finish to complete the picture.

2nd Waters & Bryson’s Sweetbriar Soprano JW
Heavier marked bitch, just lacking the richness of colour of winner on day, although I am sure this could easily change as her new coat comes through. Elegant in outline with good neck, level topline, pretty head with correct shallow stop and gentle tapering muzzle, moved out well.
Special Graduate Black & Tan or Ruby (2, 0)
1st Tyler’s Tanday Leila at Janthow
Two lovely bitches of differing types here, I chose this shorter coupled black & tan, although she had left her clothes at home, what she had was gleaming in the sunshine, flat and silky with clear rich tan markings. I liked her compact well ribbed body, with correct bone for size, She has a gentle expression to her face, with dark round eyes well cushioned.
2nd Wright’s Downsbank Tivoli Rose of Ankris
Just preferred the richer colour and more compact appearance of winner, otherwise another lovely wholecolour who moved out well. She has dark round eyes well cushioned, with excellent pigmentation, giving a soft gentle expression to her face.
Post Graduate (14, 3)
1st Vella’s Miletree Mardiegrass
What a lovely little bitch this is, full of character, she is short and compact with the prettiest of heads, broad in skull with correct high set ears, dark round eyes so well cushioned, well balanced muzzle to skull, all enhanced with excellent pigmentation. Although small she has a firm well ribbed body with strong rear quarters and moves out well.
2nd Gibson’s Toraylac Delilah
A well broken richly marked blen, with correct long silky coat, not overdone in any way. I loved her reach of neck set into laid back shoulders, on well ribbed body.

This was the hardest class of the day to judge, some lovely exhibits awaited me. I loved the clean elegant lines of this bitch, nothing exaggerated, from her gentle head, with correct shallow stop, and tapering muzzle, elegant neck set into well laid back shoulders, firm level topline with well set tail, strong well angulated rear quarters which she uses well on the moved. Beautiful dark round expressive eyes, well pigmented, long silky ears framing her gentle face. Well broken, long silky coat completed the picture. Res Bitch CC

Another quality bitch, just preferred the slightly more elegant lines of the winner. She has a well ribbed body, with good bone, firm topline and strong rear quarters, as expected she moved out well. 2nd Rhodes’ Calonlan Margarita
Liked this tri bitch, pretty head, which is broad and flat in skull with high set ears, dark eyes well cushioned. Her coat was long and silky with clear markings & rich tan, she appears heavily marked until you view the other side, which is deceivingly well broken. She is well bodied, with good rib and ample bone without being oversized, level topline with good rear angulation which she uses well on the move.

What a lovely surprise to find this bitch here today looking a million dollars, although I have watched her from ringside many times, I have never had the pleasure of judging her. Delighted to watch her move around the ring using her strong rear quarters yet still with enough elegance to know she is a toy spaniel. I love her size, well within standard yet still correct for bone, firm well ribbed body with level topline. So pretty in head, no denying she is a bitch, fairly broad skull with high set ears, dark expressive eyes so well cushioned, gently tapering muzzle all enhanced with excellent pigmentation and delightful temperament.
