I would like to thank Angela Bates and the Committee of SCKCSC for inviting me to judge their Spring Open Show, their hospitality and kind memento. I had been looking forward to this day and I had some lovely dogs to go over and would thank the exhibitors for the sporting atmosphere with all classes being applauded. A truly friendly show. Thank you to my Stewards Terry Bickerton and Estelle Dodds’ for their help during the day.

1st Fraser’s Costara Ruadh at Lyncraeg
A ruby dog of 10 years old. He had dark large eyes and good pigment to his nose. Good length to his muzzle with the correct length of stop, with cushioning under his eye. He maintained a level topline as he moved with purpose around the ring and kept this up until the end of the day in the challenge. BVIS
2nd Anderson’s Finchlea Rantin Rovin Robin
A tri colour of 8 years old. Well broken coat. I preferred the head and length of neck of the winner, but he too moved with purpose around the ring.
Minor Puppy (2, 0)  
1st Campbell’s Kinvaar’s Cloud Burst Over Avaleric
6 months old Blenheim, a lovely puppy with a good future ahead of him. He had the sweetest expression, large dark eyes, correctly length of stop, good dentition and dark pigmentation. His skull is almost flat between his ears with a good length to his ear leathers. He had a good reach of neck on correct shoulder angulations and strong bone. He had a good turn of stifle and he moved with drive around the ring. He maintained a level topline whilst covering the ground. BPD and BPIS.
2nd Slack’s Kinvaar Jumping Jack Flash at Eversbabes
6 months old Blenheim litter brother to the winner. Slightly taller in leg. Moved well round the ring.
Puppy (2, 0)  
1st Campbell’s Toraylac Here’s Hector with Avaleric
9 months old Blenheim this boy had a good head with a sweet expression. He had good width to his skull and almost flat between the ears. He had good dark eyes and black pigment. A good reach of neck and well-placed shoulders. He did not have the rear angulation of the minor puppy but he held a level topline and moved with drive round the ring.
2nd Holland’s Bonniemadra Baptism Of Fire
11 months old Ruby another good head with the correct length of stop, dark eyes and correct dentition. He was too straight in his rear angulation and this showed in his topline as he moved round the ring.
Junior (1, 0)  
1st Kerr’s Kinvaar Noah Man That Can
16 months old Blenheim full of coat for his age. He had good dark eyes and pigmentation. He was short coupled with a good spring of rib. He had one of the better tail set and croups of the day and moved with drive round the ring keeping a level topline.
Maiden (5, 0)  
1st Fraser’s Lewis’s Leonardo
Nearly 2 years old Black and Tan correctly marked with a good head. Soft expression from his dark eyes, black pigment and cushioning under the eyes. He had a good reach of neck and correct should angulations with good bone. He had a good spring of rib and a level topline on the move. He moved with drive round the ring and was not close in front or behind.
2nd Baillie’s Coralvalley Carter at Cavallino
18 months Tri coloured well broken coat with correct tan markings. Such a shame that this boy was reluctant to show off his qualities. He was my class winner standing. He is a good shape with a good reach of neck. He had good shoulder angulation and width to his chest. He had a good spring of rib and a good rib cage, correct length of loin and a good tail set.

1st Linton’s Thekop’s Hugo A Go Go
2 years old Blenheim well broken coat. He had a masculine head with dark eyes, correct dentition and black pigmentation. He is a good shape with a good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. He had good bone, a good spring of rib and a level topline standing and on the move. He had one of the best tail set and croups of the day and was not close in front or behind when moving.
2nd Bibby’s Murrens Jock
Rising 2 years old Ruby nice expression with dark eyes and good pigmentation. He is a good size and shape but not the tail set and croup of the winner and moved close behind.
3rd Hargrave’s Carleny I Dreamed A Dream
Graduate (2, 0)  
1st White’s Carleny Diamond Button
2 years Blenheim he had a nice expression with dark eyes and dark pigmentation. He was the correct shape, shorter coupled dog with a low tail set and croup.
2nd Drennan’s Calaten Star Trouper
Rising 2 years old Blenheim taller on the leg and slightly long cast. Moved with drive round the ring and maintained a level topline.
Post Graduate (6, 0) This was my strongest class of the day with evenly matched dogs.
1st Baillie’s Peakdowns Morning Magic at Cavallino
2 years old Blenheim with a softest expression. He had dark eyes, good dentition and dark pigmentation. He had the correct length of stop and cushioning under his eyes. His skull was almost flat between his ears with long leathers. He had a lovely reach to his slightly arched neck. Correct shoulder placement and a good spring of rib. He had a level topline and was short coupled. He moved with drive around the ring. I was pleased to award him RBD.
2nd Byer’s Braemarra Tayor at Linetive
20 months old Blenheim. This was a very close decision between 1st and 2nd. He had a beautiful head with a soft expression. He moved with drive around the ring keeping a level topline. He had a very good tailset and croup.
3rd Ballantine’s Middleshott Kings Ransom

Special Post Grad (Black/Tan or Ruby) (3, 1)  
1st Caldwell’s Kathysgirls Jaguar
2 year old Black and Tan. He was a mature dog well-constructed. He had a very calm disposition. A good head with plenty of cushioning under his eyes. Good skull and ear placement. He moved well around the ring.
2nd Fraser’s Tingewood Tomintoul
Over 8 years old Ruby. Very different from 1st. Full of character and smaller frame. Showing his age as he moved round the ring.

1st McMurray’s Harana Jack Jones at Merryoth
Rising 3 years Blenheim dog. Nicely broken coat of chestnut on a pearl white background. Good shape standing. He has lovely large dark eyes, correct length of stop and correct dentition.
2nd Gaskell’s Jeilohn Pickles
3½ year old Tri coloured with correct tan markings. He is well constructed with good shoulders and rear angulation. Moved with purpose round the ring.
3rd Byer’s Breamarra Tayor at Linetive

1st Waddington’s Spindlepoint President JW
Rising 3 years Blenheim, well balanced dog moving with drive around the ring. He had the most appealing expression with large dark eyes and the blackest nose. His skull is flat between the ears and his long-feathered ears frames his face. He had a slightly arched neck leading to good shoulders and he had good bone to his legs. He was short coupled with a good spring of rib and one of the best croup and tails sets of the day. I was pleased to award him BD and BIS.
2nd Ballantine’s Middleshott King of Hearts
4 years old Blenheim. Well broken coat. Slightly longer cast than the winner.
3rd Baillie’s Peakdown Floyd at Cavallino

Special Vintage Dog or Bitch (10 Entries, 8 Absent) This was a very special class for me but unfortunately the absentees were very high.
1st Gow’s Lyncraeg Hosanna
Blenheim girl rising 14 years old. She was very well constructed and still moved with drive and confidence around the ring.
2nd Hargrave’s Sandbrae Rockabye
Black and Tan. Showing his age more than the winner. It was lovely to have these exhibits in the ring and a credit to their owners and our lovely breed.
Veteran (3, 1)  
1st Glen’s Sandbrae Serenade In Blue
Black and Tan in beautiful condition. Her raven black coat shone in the sunshine. She is nearly 10 years old but moved with drive around the ring.
2nd Gaskell’s Jeilohn Myrna
Tri coloured 8 years old. She was well constructed but didn’t move with as much drive as the winner around the ring.
Minor Puppy (6, 3)  
1st Ballantine’s Middleshott Brooklyn
7 months old Blenheim a very promising puppy. She had a lovely soft expression with dark eyes. She is well constructed and moved well for one so young. She maintained a level topline both on the move and standing.
2nd Waddington’s Cranvarl George Spindlepoint
8 months Blenheim not the construction of the winner and did not have the level topline at this time.
3rd Piggott’s Dolly Diamonds Red Ruby
Puppy (2, 0)  
1st Bell’s Chistabella Only You
9 month heavily marked tri colour with tan in the correct places. She is a beautiful shape and so well trained. She shows off her qualities both standing and on the move. She has a lovely neck and shoulder assembly but a bit too straight in the stifle.
2nd Ballantine’s Middlleshott Dream Haven
Litter sister to my previous class winner. Not the head of her sister and slightly longer cast. Has time to develop.
Junior (6, 3)  
1st McAlpine’s Delhaze Dolly Daydream with Annatika
17-month-old Blenheim. I short listed her in the bitch challenge but she did not move as well as she did in the class. She had a soft expression with dark eyes, correct length of stop, correct dentition and her long ears framed her face. She had a good reach of neck and maintained a level topline both on the move and standing.
2nd Swan’s Laygib It’s Only Love
Rising 2 years ruby lovely expression with dark eyes and correct dentition. Slightly higher on the leg that the winner.
3rd Jolly’s Jorajo Beautiful Girl Venus

5-year Blenheim good for breed type. Large dark eyes and a well cushioned under the eyes. Correct dentition. She moved freely around the ring but her tail carriage spoilt her outline.

1st White’s Carleny Northern Light
18 month black and tan. She was shown in excellent condition with her raven coat shone in the sunshine. She had a soft expression with dark eyes. I would prefer a slightly longer length to her neck but she had good shoulder placement and a good turn of stifle.
2nd Bell’s Christabella Paloma
3 years Blenheim well broken coat and maintained a level topline both standing and on the move. Not the croup and tailset of the winner.
3rd Swan’s Laygib It’s Only Love
Post Graduate (4, 0)  
1st McMurray’s Cinderaic Are You For Me at Merryoth
2½ year old Blenheim what a beautiful bitch. She was expertly handled to show her at her best. Her coat of rich chestnut on a pearl white background was well broken. She had the softest of expressions with large dark eyes. Correct length of stop, correct dentition, her long ears framed her feminine face. She had good reach of neck and lovely shoulder assembly. Straight front legs with good bone and a good spring of rib. She was short coupled with good rear angulation and a good tail set and croup. What a lovely picture she made. I was pleased to award her BB and RBIS and BOS.
2nd Kirk’s Jeilohn Patience
Daughter of the tri coloured bitch in the Veteran class. A lovely shape but carrying slightly too much weight today. Displaying an excellent Cavalier temperament.
3rd Anderson’s Kinvaar Mona Lisa at Glenlora

1st Gow’s Grajenco Macchiato at Lyncraeg
2½ year old Ruby my notes say ‘beautiful’! She certainly excelled in the challenge and when shortlisted continued to show so well. She was a good shape and maintained a level topline both standing and on the move. She had lovely dark eyes and pigmentation, good dentition and her skull was almost flat between her ears. Her ear set at the correct high framed her face giving a soft feminine expression. She has a good reach of neck and good shoulder angulation. She was short coupled with a good spring of rib. I would prefer a better tail set and croup. However, with her show qualities and temperament I was delighted to award her RBB.

1st Glen’s Black Xenia V Cavino to Sandbrae
Rising 5 years Black and Tan with a beautifully presented raven black coat. Her tan was a very strong chestnut and her dark eyes and pigmentation gave her a soft expression. She was very laid back but moved well round the ring.
Open (3, 0)  
1st Sidgwick’s Salegreen Peony for Paulian JW
Nearly 2 years old Blenheim. A slightly longer cast bitch. Beautifully broken chestnut on a pearl white background. She moved with ease and drive for her handler round the ring. Dark eyes, good dentition and cushioning under her eyes. She has a good reach of neck which she shows off when standing. She has a good spring of rib. I shortlisted her in the Challenge as she was one of the best movers.
2nd Glen’s Trusties Harmony Haida to Sandbrae
Rising 5 years old Ruby. Sweet expression and shorter coupled but did not have the topline of the winner.
3rd White’s Cavallino Buttons

Special Award  –  Judge:  Ms C Groundwater (Kirkjuvagr)
I’d like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge the Special Awards Classes, and the lovely gift. My steward, Angela Bates, who kept the ring flowing. The exhibitors, who supported me, at this my first judging appointment. There were many lovely dogs and generally confident and happy in the ring. Sadly, there weren’t enough tickets.
Special Award Class Puppy (8 Entries, 2 Absent)  
1st Holland’s Bonniemadra Baptism of Fire
11 month old, rich Ruby dog, with good pigment, large dark eyes, cushioned muzzle, framed with well set ears. Beautiful, melting expression. Deep chest, nice spring of rib, good angulation front and rear. Moved energetically around the ring with tail almost level. A nice sized boy, with good bone.
2nd Kerr’s Kinvaar Noah Man That Can
16 month old, Blenheim dog, with a quality masculine head. Good reach of neck keeping a level top line, at all times. His well assembled fore and hind quarters allowing him to move freely, with drive, around the ring. Well presented, silky coat in lovely condition.
3rd Waddington’s Cranvarl Georgie Spindlepoint

1st White’s Carleny Northern Light
A very feminine, well proportioned, 19 month B/T bitch. Sweet, head with dark round eyes and nicely cushioned muzzle giving a lovely soft expression, coupled with well furnished ears. Lovely front and rear angulation, allowing her to move gracefully with a spirit level top line. Shown in superb condition.
2nd Gow’s Grajenco MacChiato at Lyncraeg
Two year old, rich Ruby bitch, in gleaming coat. Lovely head with such a soft and feminine expression, together with large dark eyes. Well angulated at both ends and a nicely assembled body. She moved so well, maintaining a beautiful outline. Another quality solid colour.
3rd Kerr’s Lempa Guns A Blazing over Kinvaar

Special Award Class Open (6, 2)  
1st Ballantine’s Middleshott King of Hearts
Four year old, well marked Blenheim dog. Masculine head with large dark eyes, good pigment and well cushioned muzzle. Good front and rear angulation, allowing him to move effortlessly around the ring. Keeps a level topline on the move and standing. Well presented.
2nd Glen’s Black Xenia V Cavino to Sandbrae
Four year old B/T bitch with lovely rich tan markings. An elegant girl, who moved well in both directions, keeping a steady topline and correct tail carriage. A soundly constructed body, with nice angles. Coupled with an appealing head and limpid eyes.
3rd White’s Carleny Sweetest Of All
Res White’s Carleny I Dreamed A Dream
