Bitches Mr P Follows (Ellacroft)
A big thank you to the Chairman and committee for inviting me to judge this friendly show. I was made to feel very welcome. Thank you also to my two stewards who kept it running smoothly and me on my toes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day with a lovely entry to go over. Thank you to the exhibitors for the spirit you showed at my class decisions and for presenting your exhibits in a clean condition and well groomed.
The floor did not help movement and I had to re walk a few to get a good view of their movement. It is important that pads are kept trimmed to help them feel the ground and avoid slipping, a few would have walked better if they had them trimmed better. I thought a few needed more muscle tone and hence, more road work to tighten them up. Rear action even with the floor problem was erratic or close behind in quite a few exhibits.
Compared to my last judging appointment, there are not so many stuffy necks, they do seem to have improved, certainly in the bitches. I was surprised at the number of dark but small eyes but pleased there were few light eyes. I only had two off mouths.
Now I have never been keen on trimmed ears, but it seems to be getting more common. Some that are trimmed are expertly done and still look fairly natural, however some were so short it ruined their outline and reminded me of a sixties bob. Not a good look in cavaliers.
My co Judge and I were in full agreement that the dog cc winner was finished better and be BEST OF BREED with my Best Puppy bitch winner as BEST PUPPY IN SHOW.
