I would very much like to thank the Humberside C.K.C.S. Club for inviting me to judge the joint C.K.C.S. club show. It has been over 30 years since the late Jean Grant approached me to ask if I would join her and others to help form the club. John, her husband, my late husband Nev, our friends David and Janet Crosley and others all supported the idea and I am so pleased and proud of what it has become and that it is still going strong today.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the show and found that all of the dogs who entered were happy and healthy. They all did so well on such a very hot day, I would say maybe even one of the hottest days of the summer. I also very much enjoyed the bit of banter and company of Eddie Bishop and Kelly Lee, my ring stewards, and Dick Morrison over lunch!
Lastly and most importantly I would like to thank all of the exhibitors for entering the show. It was a pleasure judging and one I hope I get to repeat in the future.
Many Thanks

Sound Black and Tan of pleasing size and in gleaming condition. Now 8 years but looks great and looking at him you would not guess his age. Lovely head and large eyes. Good lay of shoulder, good body and bone. Full attention given to his handler and a credit to the breed, a sound exhibit. A really handsome boy who moved extremely well on this very hot day.

WOW! A well balanced 11 month old Blenheim who for me is an outstanding puppy. Excellent proportions, lovely head with good dentation. Large dark eyes wit a lovely expression. Good neck and good lay of shoulder. Good bone, body and tail set. A very smart dog with excellent movement and style. Was very tempted to award him a higher merit but he will not need any help from me. I thought I would let him enjoy his puppy classes first. Moved with plenty of drive. A quality exhibit here. Really reminded me of someone! Best Puppy in Show.

A 2½ year old Blenheim of lovely type. Super head with huge, dark eyes and black rims giving the most gentle of expressions. Good dentation, good lay of shoulder and a well ribbed body. Well angulated hind quarters. At first glance can look overweight but he is not. It is his abundance of thick coat, but he has nothing to hide. With less coat I am sure this boy will be more appreciated for further higher placings. You can see he adores his handler. A very pleasing exhibit.
2nd Hughes’ Loranka’s Glory Days
Well marked Blenheim with a pleasing head and dark eyes. Good pigment and expression. Good mouth, good shoulder and a firm body. Felt he was not gibing the best of himself today but most probably feeling the heat. Kept a good topline on the move.

Heavier marked Blenheim who is 2 years old. My star of the day. Typical toy spaniel of pleasing size who I was drawn to when I saw him come into the ring. Good bone for a dog of his size. Moved with drive keeping a good top line. Well in tune with his handler. Presentation was excellent. My C.C. Bitches Mr D Crossley (Tameline)
What a wonderful show just good people and their dogs enjoying a hot summers day while at the same time trying to keep cool. My thanks go first to all exhibitors for their support it was magnificent. To my stewards Dick and Richard for keeping things ticking over so well and the to my fellow committee members for all their efforts beforehand, organising and fundraising and goody bag filling, also their family and friends who helped out throughout the weekend.
I must also thank them for giving me the honour of judging at this show I was so pleased to judge alongside my friend Gill Baker once more, we again agreed without question on all the final placings.
In this foreword to my critique I must make a few points with regard to the bitches in general seen today.
Unfortunately for the future there were too many small, thin weak individuals in the puppy classes that gave me great disappointment. Without bone and body substance you will not see spring of rib, or develop muscle on the rear end which is now and will continue to be the greatest weakness in the breed SMALL IS NOT GOOD it may give a cute appearance but you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear nor discover a new way of developing good rear driving movement.
Having made these points I must say that the senior classes had many exquisite bitches of great breed type present in them and I hope you will continue to strive for excellence in type, construction and movement.
Oh and I do really like a pretty face to go with these key attributes of our breed.
